About Us

A brief about The Ministry of Community Empowerment 

The Ministry of Community Empowerment is the designated government body mandated to oversee the empowerment and social support programs. It develops and implements strategies that enable public benefit organizations and other community organizations to play an active role in national development.
The Ministry's mandate encompasses developing and implementing policies that enhance Emirati society's welfare.  It also enhances citizens' lives by creating and implementing social policies that ensure a dignified standard of living for low-income households. Additionally, it allocates support to those who qualify and empowers them to achieve financial self-sufficiency and helps them find new income opportunities by monitoring their cases closely and assessing their progress.
It's also responsible for regulating and licensing the declaration of public benefit organizations while overseeing and supervising them closely to promote accountability and integrity. Furthermore, the Ministry regulates authorized entities engaged in fundraising or receiving domestic and international donations. Moreover, the Ministry organizes and promotes volunteer work done by individuals and public and private sector organizations.
Additionally, the Ministry's responsible for the regulation, licensing, oversight, and supervision of non-Muslim houses of worship, fostering innovation within the social sector and promoting community contributions from various sectors.

UAE Minister of Community Empowerment

Her Excellency Shamma bint Sohail Faris Al Mazrui was appointed as the UAE’s Minister of Community Empowerment in the Cabinet reshuffle in February 2023. She was previously appointed as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs in February 2016 at the age of 22, making her the world’s youngest cabinet minister at the time of her appointment.
